ISFAB Final Judges: Who are they? Part 1

Hello everyone! Thanks for joining me. I hope you have a delicious beverage and a snack ready as you get comfy. I'm a person who likes to get to the point, so, if you're ready, let's go!

We've met some of the other judges, but, did you know there are three FINAL judges who will decide the winner of the last five books?

This process will take 2 months, but the way this year is going it will feel like six months or two weeks depending on where you live.

Today we are spotlighting the first final judge, author, J.M.D. Reid. I interviewed him back in September of 2020. You can read his interview here.

J.M.D. Reid has been a long-time fan of fantasy ever since he read The Hobbit way back in the fourth grade. His head has always been filled with fantastical tales, and he is eager to share the worlds dwelling in his dreams with you.

Reid is a long-time resident of the Pacific Northwest in and around the City of Tacoma. The rainy, gloomy atmosphere of Western Washington, combined with the natural beauty of the evergreen forests and the looming Mount Rainier, provides the perfect climate to brew creative worlds and exciting stories!

When he's not writing, Reid enjoys playing video games, playing D&D, and listening to amazing music. Did I ask him the same questions as the other judges? Well, yeah, I did. Let's read his answers, shall we?

Q: Do you keep a book review journal?

A: I do not, though I post reviews on my blog.

Q: Is this the first time you have been a judge for a contest?

A: It is my first time!

Q: Is this your favorite genre to read? If not, which one do you prefer?

A: I love reading Fantasy! It's my favorite ever since I read the Hobbit!

Q: What prompted you to be one of the judges?

A: Michael Evan asked me if I'd like to be a finalist judge. I was quite honored to be chosen and looking forward to it!

Q: Is there anything you would like the contestants to know about you or the judging?

A: I write epic and dark fantasy. I am a big fan of the genre, but I also love other genres of fiction. Time travel and post-apocalyptic are some of my favs outside of fantasy! Sci-fi is great, too.

You can find J.M.D Reid and more about his work on his website and Facebook page. Give him a follow to support him!

Authors are small business owners and we appreciate all the support we get. It's not an easy dream to follow.

A big thanks to all of you for reading and I will see you again for the next one!
