Interview with Alex G. Zarate

Alex G Zarate is an active writer, dedicated novelist, philosopher, positivity advocate, eccentric artist, and keeper to the secrets of the universe. He was born somewhere in Texas when a rip in space/time opened a dimensional rift that nearly wiped out all of humanity.

What are your favorite genres to read?

Currently Fantasy.  Scifi is a close second.

How many hours a day do you write?

Not enough.  I put in a good hour most days.  I sometimes go up to four or six, depending on what's going on.

What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?

Probably the interactions.  They are pretty well developed but sometimes they go off on topics I have no clue how to address.  I ask myself if they would really say this and end up giving them the benefit of the doubt and moving on.  Yes, I'm a pantser.

Do you have a favorite part in your book?

Favorite would be during the climax of the story.  An explosion is imminent and death seems certain.  From experience, the most trying times are also when you find strength you never knew you had.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Both.  I love it when I get to sit and write for hours.  It's an escape and a workout.  I get to enjoy living other lives and going on adventures.  The longer the better.  Sadly, when I return, I'm worn out, droopy-eyed, and in need of a few weeks or rest.  Ah, the life of a creative!

Without giving away any spoilers, can you give my readers a brief blurb about your book?

Tommy and his cat Snowy have faced challenges throughout their lives without revealing their secret, but when he and his friends depart for a holiday camping trip, he learns that Caroline is more like him than he could have hoped. As he and Caroline grow closer, an unknown danger draws near, making their time together dangerous, precious and fated to change their lives forever.

When does the second book release?

By year's end.  I'm aiming for November but this year has been a challenge in more ways than one.
